Amity Homes' founder - Shane Peterson - started Amity homes at a time when he had been building homes (as a project manager for other builders) for over two decades. In June of 1991 the movie City Slickers hit big screens and instantly became a hit, now viewed by many as the funniest movie of all time. City Slickers gave us something more than a few laughs, though. In the movie is found a very powerful pearl of wisdom.

It's that pearl that makes Amity Homes so different.

During dialogue between the show's two main characters, Mitch (the helpless city-slicker) and the gruff old cowboy Curly are chasing down stray cattle when the conversation (sparse as it was) turns to the topic of life. During the conversation Curly yanks his horse to a stop and turns to Mitch, and gives him the pearl:

Curly: Do you know what the secret of life is?
Mitch: No. What?
Curly: This. [holding up one finger]
Mitch: Your finger?
Curly: One thing. Just one thing. You stick to that and everything else don't (matter).
